Notes

Ballymoney Model Flying Club is club 23 in Area 13 of the British Model Flying Association and is situated a few miles outside Ballymoney, Co Antrim, and close to the village of Dervock (For those with sat nav the postcode of the farm at the bottom of the lane is BT53 8PB and its number 35 if you need that

The club has approx. fifty members and has interests in all aspects of model aviation catering for all disciplines although no one in the club owns a turbine powered model as yet, but they have been flown at the site.

The club rents a two and a half acre field in rural countryside adjacent to bogland and has a well-equipped caravan on site with all utilities available. We have been at this location for the past fifteen years and the club celebrated its twenty fifth anniversary in 2009.

The main interests at Ballymoney would be R/C flight, particularly fixed wing and rotary; in fact we are probably the premier 3D Helicopter Club in the area. Members have been successful in most fields of competition, 3Dx Ireland, IMAC, Area scale and aerobatics competitions recently come to mind.

We have no restrictions on flying except on Sundays when we try not to Fly before one p.m. and during the summer months you will find someone at the club most evenings weather permitting, Thursday night being our designated club night and usually training is given priority.

We will train anyone to fly and would advise him or her to come and see us before they buy and build a model. Bill Ervine the owner of Bills Hobbies in Coleraine is also a member of Ballymoney. As mentioned we cater for all disciplines and it is not unusual to see Large i/c fixed wing, 3d helicopters, electric models, glider towing and even a bit of control line all on the same day.

If your in our area call in you can be sure of a warm welcome and a cup of coffee and ‘craic’ in the caravan
