NIAA Aerobatic Championships

The Aerobatic Season in Northern Ireland isn't far away. In 2010 we will follow the successful format of 2 rounds for the NIAA Aerobatic Championships with Round 1 being at Ballymoney Model Flying Club on Sunday 25th April and Round 2 being on Saturday 4th September at North West Model Flying Club, a massive thanks to both clubs for the use of their fantastic facilities, anyone who has been at both the 2008 and 2009 competitions will agree a warm welcome has always been received.

We will use the IMAC Schedules again, flying Basic, Sportsman and for the first time Intermediate, the reason for this is simple, popularity, the success of the change in format a few years ago is now showing through, the level has increased and we now have quite a few pilots capable of flying at Intermediate Level, so let's keep improving.

Some general points for NIAA Comps are,

  • BMFA or MACI insurance required
  • Any model can fly at the comp as long as it's safe and air worthy
  • Although it's a comp, have a go and have some fun

The two rounds will be added up to decide who wins the overall NIAA Aerobatic Champions. There is a Novice Trophy which the Basic Level Pilots will compete for, for the Masters Trophy, the combined scores for each Sportsman and Intermediate pilot will be added together and percentaged against the maximum score available for your routine, thus giving the best pilot in their class the chance to win the trophy, the fairest way to do it,
